Yorkton country music performer Samara Yung is headed to Halifax, Nova Scotia later this month to take part in the Canadian Country Music Association awards week.

Yung will be part of ‘Artists on Deck’ show during the Sept. 12th weekend.

“It is a showcase opportunity for artists from across the country to perform and gain exposure during country music week,” explained Yung, adding, “I was invited by Anya Wilson promotions and publicity and SaskMusic.”

The showcase is for fans, but also draws industry people.

“It is a showcase for everyone,” said Yung. “Industry people and fans can come and check out artists from across the county throughout the day Friday from 2pm until midnight.”

Yung said she hopes the showcase might open some doors, and at the same time, make fans happy.

“I hope to get more exposure to the industry and to finally get to perform for my fans that I already have down on the east coast,” she said. “They have been big supporters of mine since the first album.”

The event provides artists with an opportunity to showcase a number of selections.

“It is a 20-minute set so I get to do about eight songs,” said Yung.

“I will actually be doing a few brand new songs that I just wrote during my last Nashville trip.”

The event also helps promote Yung’s latest CD; ‘This Is Me’.

“The latest CD is doing great,” she said. “It has been my busiest summer yet and the new single and video I did with fellow artist Codie Prevost is being played on CMT and on radio across Canada. It is actually charting in the top-60 in Canada and still rising. It was even top-20 in Saskatoon.”

When asked if there was ‘anything else on the horizon of note?’ Yung had some exciting personal news to share.

“Well actually, my husband and I are expecting a baby in February,” she said, then adding that does not mean she will slow down in terms of her music. “Don’t worry the music will not stop. I cannot wait to bring a baby into this amazing musical life of mine knowing that I am surrounded by very supportive people and music.”

And that will include new material in the new year.

“I am planning to have a new album out by the end of next year. With new music hitting radio by early 2016,” she said.
