Yorkton Council gave unanimous second and third reading to a Zoning Bylaw amendment which is a step in the development of a new home for Maple Farm Equipment.

The amendment was given first reading at the Feb. 7 meeting of Council.

Administration has received a Zoning Bylaw amendment application to remove the Future Development Overlay on land across the highway south of Harvest Meats, explained City Planner Michael Eger at the regular meeting of Yorkton Council Monday.

The intent of the application is to allow for immediate development of an Agricultural Sales & Service use (Maple Farm Equipment) in the northwest corner of the site, which is currently not allowed by the Future Development Overlay, he explained.

“The entire affected parcel is approximately 96 acres in size.”

The City has received a subdivision application to create a 20 acre commercial parcel, 10.6 acre Environmental Reserve and 4.2 acre utility parcel for storm water management, said Eger.

“The application is consistent with the Official Community Plan, which prescribes commercial development within these lands while protecting the wetlands and treed area with Parks and Recreation zoning,” continued Eger.
