The Saskat​​​chewan Health Authority (SHA) is advising of a cluster of COVID-19 cases in the Yorkton area and has declared an outbreak in the Yorkton Regional Health Centre as of September 27, 2020.

There are 14 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on September 28, bringing the total to 1,892 reported cases. The new cases are located in the Far North West (1), Saskatoon (3), Central East (7) and Regina (3) zones.

On Sept. 27, a front-line officer at the Yorkton RCMP Detachment tested positive for COVID-19. The officer immediately self-isolated as per the direction of the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA).

Although much is still dependent on how the COVID-19 pandemic evolves, the Kamsack Players theatre group has decided to begin the process which would result in a production in mid-December.

The history of a city can be seen in its streets, and Yorkton has a number of homes and buildings that tell the story of its history.

A new mural has popped up recently in the city. Bredenbury artist Mya Lauer has added some colour to the back wall of Refresh Massage Studio and Spa at 35 Smith St. W.

Dick DeRyk has announced his intention to seek a seat on Yorkton Council. This would be return to Council for DeRyk, as he was amember of Yorkton city council for 13 years - various terms between 1987 and 2009.
