Tourism Yorkton made its annual report to the regular meeting of Yorkton Council. The Yorkton Convention and Visitor Bureau is a non-profit organization founded in 1985 to promote tourism opportunities in the Yorkton area.

A new initiative looks to honour the veterans of Yorkton and area. Monday the Royal Canadian Legion’s Honour Our Veterans committee made a presentation on the project to the regular meeting of Yorkton Council.

The City of Yorkton has been receiving annual funding from the Gas Tax Fund since the 2006 fiscal year.

Yorkton Council has decided the Deputy Mayor should still receive some extra pay for their efforts. At the February 10, 2020 Council Meeting, a report was delivered to City Council regarding an amendment to the Remuneration of Council Policy.

The International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination will be held March 21, and it will be marked locally.

It won’t be long before hundreds of students arrive in Yorkton for the 2020 Canadian Student Leadership Conference (CSLC).

There was a time when you needed rope, you made it first by essentially braiding sisal twine together, the larger diametre the rope needed the more strands of twine used. But it was not a case of hand braiding.

The annual Yorkton Music Festival will be held March 9-21. As is the case every year the Festival will be adjudicator by people with a long resume in music. They include; Dr. Melissa Morgan is a choral conductor, educator and performer.
