In December of 2016, the Yorkton RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) initiated a fraud investigation into the development of a large retail clothing store on Broadway Avenue in Yorkton, SK.

There will be a new Golden Sheaf award next year. The Yorkton Film Festival has opened its call for submissions for the 2020 festival, and in the process has launched its newest award, the Mental Health Award.

The Kinsmen Club of Yorkton will celebrate 75 years in 2020 along with Kin Canada celebrating 100 years as an all Canadian Service organization. The club will be granting $100 upto 100 classes or youth organizations for a total of $10,000.

The adults were not the only ones to vote in October. Students from across Yorkton took to the polls themselves.

Yorkton is about to be in the center of a major highway facelift. Both Highway 9 to Canora and Highway 10 to Melville are getting passing lanes and other improvements next year.
