The inaugural Rhythm ‘n Ribs Festival in Yorkton drew large crowds over the weekend – an estimated 15,000. The attraction, world class barbecue, ribs, and pulled pork, from a quintet of specialized rib trucks.

Kasper Bergman has been reappointed to the Langenburg Housing Authority Board of Directors. Other members of the board of directors are Brenda Weiss, Ronald Koch, Ben Mussell and Iris P. Simpson. Simpson is chairperson.

Twenty Scouts, Ventures’ and Leaders participated in the Canadian Jamboree at Camp Nedooae, NS July 5-16th, 2017. The Scouts most amazing journey started with their flight to Halifax on July 5.

Haying continues in the province and livestock producers now have 74 per cent of the hay crop baled or put into silage. An additional 14 per cent is cut and ready for baling, according to Saskatchewan Agriculture’s weekly Crop Report.

This week, in 1960, Melville officially became a city. On August 1, 1960 it became official, and Melville became the 11th city in Saskatchewan. Melville had been a town for 51 years before the announcement was made about its new status.

A Calder man is in custody after allegedly driving a bulldozer into a house which was occupied by two people.

Yorktonites can expect antique tractors, flour grinding, and the history of women in farming at the Western Development Museum this weekend. The 62nd Threshermen’s Show and Seniors’ Festival takes place over August 5 and 6.
