A trio of performances by a talented cast of players helped ensure that Equinox Theatre’s latest production was another enjoyable success with local theatre lovers.

Many businesses in the Yorkton area were hit with a big tax increase, especially smaller businesses in Yorkton’s downtown.

The seventh build for Yorkton’s Habitat for Humanity branch has officially begun. Tom Seeley, co-chair of Habitat for Humanity Yorkton branch, describes it as a major accomplishment for the organization, which has built seven homes in seven years.

Prince Edward Island has been taking credit for having been the “cradle of Confederation” although the Island did not join Confederation until 1873.

In spirit of Canada’s 150 birthday, the Yorkton Brick Mill Heritage Society will be hosting a dinner to celebrate the York Farmer’s Colonization Company who settled here and were responsible for making Yorkton what it is today.

Saltcoats Lakeside Manor held its third annual Country Faire Thursday. The event had a number of activities for manor residents, their families and friends.

On Tuesday, June 20, the Godfrey Dean Art Gallery showed the locally made film Cognitive Justice. The film was produced, directed, shot and edited by Melissa Antony of the Yorkton Tribal Council.

There is no better venue to enjoy Canada Day than a Saskatchewan provincial park. To celebrate this special day and Canada’s 150th Birthday, the parks will be offering free entry on July 1.

Saskatchewan residents and visitors to the province are encouraged to cast a line on July 8 and 9 in celebration of the annual Saskatchewan Free Fishing Weekend.

Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association (SUMA) President Gordon Barnhart announced today that Laurent Mougeot is stepping down after 12 years as SUMA’s Chief Executive Officer. Mougeot’s last day will be September 22, 2017.
