Update: Accident with injuries; motorcyclist injured in Saskatoon

SASKATOON - Update: The traffic restrictions on Circle Dr. from earlier Friday evening have been lifted.

Friday at 5:08 p.m.s, Collision Analyst Unit members were called to a single motorcycle crash at the Circle Drive East overpass at Highway 11, Saskatoon.

Initial information was that a 68-year-old male was suffering head and chest injuries when he slid his motorcycle on its side. The male was believed to be suffering from life threatening injuries and was transported to RUH for medical care.

According to scene evidence, a 1985 Honda Goldwing motorcycle was travelling east in the right lane of Circle Drive, approaching the cloverleaf interchange with Highway 11. The motorcycle operator locked up his front brake and laid the bike on its left side. The operator became dislodged from the bike and slid into the left lane.

At the time of this update, the male driver was in stable condition. He suffered a collapsed lung along with a head injury.

Impairment was not a factor in this collision. Rain was a contributing factor in this collision.

Background: As of 5:45 p.m., Friday, Saskatoon Police Service traffic members were at the scene of a traffic accident involving a motorcycle.

The operator of the motorcycle has been taken to hospital. The status of his injuries is unknown at this time.

The public were advised that eastbound traffic on Circle Drive from downtown will be backed up for some time as officers deal with their investigation between Preston Avenue and the Highway 16 exit on Circle Drive.
