Students of Victoria School, who may have lost or forgotten their gloves or mittens on a cold day this winter, have access to 50 pair of hand-knitted mittens, thanks to Millie Currie.
Currie has been providing students with the hand-warmers for at least 15 years, first as a member of a project undertaken by the United Church Women and then she took on the project on her own.
“I feel good giving the mittens to the students,” Currie said recently. “They go quickly, and the students love them.”
Currie, who tries to use up donated yarn, said she usually starts knitting the mittens in March or April, and is able to knit about two pair a week.
