Tim Atchinson of Lintlaw recently took over ownership of the business which had previously been known as the Chuckwagon Diner. Atchy's Family Diner opened for business on November 8.

"We are excited to offer a wide range of homemade meals with pizza as our speciality," said Tim Atchinson.

The diner offers homemade burgers, ribs, daily homemade soups, lunch specials, a children's menu and a breakfast.

"I had previously owned and operated a bar establishment in Lintlaw but it never worked out," said Atchinson. "I was getting completely out of the business when the opportunity came up to purchase the Sturgis business.

“We quickly grabbed the opportunity to be able to offer a great range of homemade food to our customers,” he said. “Ron and Rose Descalchuk have been a huge support for us. Their encouragement made the decision easier."

Atchinson wants to do some cosmetic changes to the building that includes décor and painting that will follow a 1960s theme. In the near future he will be having wing nights and smorgs once a week. He said that in the spring he wants to put a new roof on the building, create a enclosed deck, redo the front entrance and expand the kitchen.

The main cook is Kim Sherman who has 16 years experience in the bakery industry and six years as a chef.
