A long-time Kamsack banking institution which is no longer in the community has made a significant donation to the Assiniboine Valley Medical Centre.

On November 3, former Kamsack resident Ron Boychuk, son of Steve and Sylvia Boychuk of Kamsack, who works as the account manager for the Bank of Montreal in Yorkton, presented a cheque of $5,000 on behalf of the bank to the Assiniboine Valley Medical Centre.

Although the bank no longer has a branch in Kamsack, Boychuk said that it had a branch in the community for many years and still has customers in the area. Making the donation is a way to be able to give back to the community, he said as he presented the cheque to Mayor Rod Gardner, who is the fundraising chair for the medical centre.

At BMO, we are committed to helping improve the quality of life in the communities where we live and work, Jeff McAulay, vice-president of commercial accounts for the southern Prairies for BMO, said in a release.

“We embrace the diversity of people’s social needs, ideas and interests and distribute our contributions over a broad rang of initiatives, including education, health, arts and culture, community development and sports and athletics,” McAulay said. “We believe your volunteer group strongly aligns with the community values that BMO believes in.

“We are proud to support your community and wish you continued success in raising funds for this worthwhile cause,” he said.
