The Village of Calder council met on Thursday, February 18, 2021, at 7:04 P.M. with Mayor Ivan Subkow calling the meeting to order with all council members present.
The council heard the water report from their village waterworks worker who explained to the council about the numbers on the report. The results of the water treatment plant inspection were also discussed.
Next, the council reviewed the minutes of the last meeting. Mayor Subkow made a motion to accept the minutes as amended; motion carried.
Carrying on, the council reviewed the correspondence received by the village over the last month. Mayor Subkow made a motion to file the correspondence; motion carried.
The Bank Reconciliation and Accounts were reviewed before Councillor Buzinski made the motion to accept the Bank Reconciliation and Accounts as reviewed; motion carried.
The council heard Administrator Rita Brock’s report as to what she has been doing for the village for the last month. Brock explained she is about 95% prepared for the annual audit coming up right away, as well as explaining her regular office duties.
New Business
The village received a request for a reduction in water and sewer charges to St. Mary’s Church due to reduced service and funding. Councillor Spence made a motion to reduce the St. Mary's Church water-sewer bill by 25%; motion carried.
Next, the council discussed the rental agreement for the local fitness center that the Calder Recreation Board has for using the village office building. Mayor Subkow made the motion to waive the fees until the May council meeting when the agreement will be reassessed; motion carried.
The council discussed the possibility of a person purchasing the flagpole in front of the old town office; this will be discussed further in the spring.
