Canora Cadets enjoy great outdoors performing ground search activity

The Canora air cadets participated in a challenging ground search/geocache activity on May 13, said Darren Paul, Canora air cadets’ commanding officer.

Groups of three to four cadets were each were given global positioning system (GPS) co-ordinates, said Paul. The members were then required to find the spot indicated, where there was a small hidden container that held the coordinates for the next location.

These containers were hidden all across Canora, he said. During the search the cadets walked, ran or used their bikes, which gave the group a reason to get outside and get some exercise.

This activity challenged the cadets to actively use cell phones, compasses and GPS capabilities to conduct the searches, rather than just sitting around snap chatting and playing games.

All cadets said it was a fun and challenging activity, said Paul.
