Canora Composite School cross-country team has more successes at Deer Park meet

The Canora Composite School had another successful series of races while taking part in the Deer Park Cross-Country Meet. The Canora Composite School cross-country team sent 16 students to the meet, with nine placing in the top 10 for their race.

            In the beginner boys category, Taye Shukin competed against 79 other runners and received a second place medal.

            In the sneaker boys category, Canora Composite School had six students competing against 50 other runners. Porter Wolkowski took home the first place medal. Other racers included Hunter Lamb in fifth place, Cole Marcinkowski in 11th place, Lucas Latham in 26th place, Bronson Heshka in 33rd place and Michael Owchar in 34th place.

            In the weepee boys category, Joey Palagian and Daniel Howell competed against 31 other runners and placed 25th and 28th respectively.

            In the peewee boys race, Hudson Bailey and Clay Sleeva brought home a second-place medal and a third-place medal respectively, while Dawson Zuravloff placed 10th and Jake Statchuk placed 12th.

            In the bantam boys category, Jacob Gulka competed against 11 other runners and completed the race in fourth place.

            In the bantam girls category, Emily Owchar placed eighth, and in the midget girls category, Kara High placed third.

            The next cross-country meet will take place in Saltcoats on September 30.
