Canora Composite School junior girls start basketball season with two victories

The Canora Composite School junior girls basketball team was quick to prove itself with huge victories in its first and second games of the season.

            The Canora Composite School junior girls basketball team was quick to prove itself with huge victories in its first and second games of the season.

            The Canora junior girls travelled to Sturgis on December 7, when they defeated Sturgis Composite High School with a score of 14-58.

            They then travelled to Norquay on December 14 and defeated the Norquay School team 47-74.

            “The team is off to a great start,” said Tamara Slowski, the assistant coach. Slowski will be coaching the girls for the season, as coach Rhonda O’Dell is currently off work, though O’Dell will attend games and practices when possible.

            Members of the Canora Composite School junior girls basketball team are Bella Mykytyshyn, Lexie Biletski, Megan Barteski, Megan Scherban, Emma Mykytyshyn, Courtney Popoff, Rebekah Thomas, Jordelle Lewchuk, Ally Sleeva, Saryn Leson, Emily Owchar, Kyesha Kaiser, Ashley Stusek, Larissa Makowsky and Chloe Davis.

            “My goal is to go out there, have some fun and work hard so we can bring some wins home,” Slowski said.

            “I feel we have a great team and am looking forward to a great season!”
