A special fundraiser for the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation reached its conclusion with participants riding a very special bike around Canora on June 14.

The event involves teams of 30 people raising money across Canada and celebrating their funds raised by riding a Big Bike, or a special tandem bike built for all 30 people to ride.

Alanna Bugera of Veregin and Kendra Mundel of Saskatoon organized the Canora team, which was made up of 21 people. Their 20-minute bike ride around town started at 7:30 p.m. by the Canora Hospital.

The team in Canora raised a total of $3,141. Of that amount, 11-year-old Logan Grabowski raised $1,029, impressing the event coordinators.

Bugera and Mundel thank everyone who participated, as the funds raised will be invested in life-saving heart disease research and treatments, as well as in the provision of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) for Canadian communities.
