Yorkton Council has given first reading to a discretionary use request for a property on Myrtle Avenue.

A development permit application was made for a Storage Compound use at 202 Myrtle Avenue, detailed report circulated to Council at its regular meeting Monday.

The property is zoned CMI-1 Commercial Industrial Transitional.

The proposed Storage Compound/Facility is listed as a Discretionary Use in the CMI-1 zone and, subject to public notification requirements, Council approval is needed in order for Administration to issue a Development Permit through the Discretionary Use Application Process, explained Carleen Koroluk, Planner, with the City.

The applicant is proposing to use the compound for the storage of consumer vehicles and personal recreational vehicles which is consistent with the neighboring land uses, noted Koroluk.

The applicant intends to lease storage space within the proposed compound for licensed vehicles, boats and recreation vehicles. The entire lot will be fenced.

Council gave unanimous support to authorize City Administration to proceed with Public Notification for Discretionary Use application.3
