The Canadian National Railway (CNR) was authorized by the Town of Canora at the August 18 regular meeting to construct a communications tower at 100 Railway Avenue.
CN currently uses a radio antenna on the old Saskatchewan Wheat Pool B elevator, but because the intention is to demolish the grain elevator, CN needs to construct a new tower.
Following the necessary procedures, a public hearing regarding the proposed tower was held during the regular council meeting, but there were no personal or written representations made.

Council approved the 2015 water works rate policy and capital investment strategy.
The town is required by the province to adopt the rate policy and capital investment strategy every year and submit it to the provincial government, explained Michael Mykytyshyn, the chief administrative officer.
It has been a provincial requirement since 2006.

Council tabled a request from Sunrise Health Region to contribute 50 per cent of the car rental costs for Dr. Hamed Afshari during his Saskatchewan International Physician Placement (SIPPA) program clinical term.

Wes Popoff, the water treatment plant operator, and David Wasyliw, the senior public works operator, were authorized to attend the Saskatchewan Water and Wastewater Association (SWWA) annual conference in Saskatoon from November 4 to 6.
