Enbridge certainly seems to be endearing itself to the communities in which the pipeline/energy company works in, especially after a special presentation last week that saw the Town of Outlook and the RM of Rudy benefit from a very sizable donation.
On Thursday, September 7, a number of Enbridge reps as well as local officials were on hand at the site of the new swimming pool in Outlook, where Joanne Bradbury, a senior strategist with Enbridge, along with Guy Krepps, Director of Major Projects Execution, unveiled a large cheque made out to the Town and RM for a whopping $100,000.
The funds will be split between three local initiatives; $50,000 for Outlook’s new swimming pool facility, $40,000 to the RM for a new fire truck, and $10,000 for playground expansion at the Jim Kook Rec Plex.
Representing the town, RM and pool project were Outlook Mayor Ross Derdall, Bree Campbell, Tony & Betty Peter, Floyd Childerhose, Kyle McLeod, and Maureen Applin, while other Enbridge reps included Al Sawatzky, Mike Gibb, Dan Tischler, and Jordan Halter.
Enbridge’s significant donation is part of the company’s way of investing in the communities that are affected by their ongoing projects, most notably the current Line 3 Replacement program. In total, the company will invest nearly $600,000 this year in community-focused programs and initiatives in the areas of construction that are a part of the Line 3 project.
This major boost to Outlook’s ongoing community-minded programming is a way for Enbridge to give back.
“We don’t just operate in communities, we live in them,” said Krepps. “As a good neighbour, we’re committed to strengthening communities like Outlook and the RM of Rudy by supporting innovative programs that positively impact quality of life in three core areas: environment, community, and safety.”
Over the life of the Line 3 project, Enbridge has earmarked approximately $3 million for community investments and donations.
