From several accounts it was an “awesome” time at the Togo rink on January 14 when for the first time in 20 years, the Togo Terriers hockey team played a game on home ice.
The Terriers, who use the Broda Sportsplex in Kamsack when the natural ice in the Togo arena is not ready, suit up to play once a week, usually Fridays, but on January 14 the Canora Flames were to in Togo for the game.
“It was a great time at the rink,” said Amanda Burback, Togo recreation director. “The atmosphere in the rink was all hockey at home. It was a good time and people said that the wings that were served were the best.”
Although “fun” is stressed over goals scored, the game ended with a win of 11-8 for Canora, Burback said.
To date three more home games have been scheduled for the Terriers. They were to play a Calder team on Saturday, and then will be playing a game on February 11 and February 25.
