A core of 20 players makes up the roster for the Preeceville Panthers football team. A football camp held from August 29 to September 9 was a clear indication that the team is ready to take on its competitors.

"The camp went great and showed a lot of great progress," said Jeremy Mattison, offence coach. "Camp focused on conditioning returning players and welcoming a new core of players.

“Players are in great shape and we are looking forward to a successful season,” Mattison said. “We are in a different conference this year: the Conference One, six-man 2A football with Watson, Wynyard, and Watrous. It will be a challenging tough season  but we are looking good and forward to the challenge.

“We have nine Grade 12 students, a few Grade 11 players and  a lot of newer players. It is a good combination for a successful season," he said.

Other coaching staff includes Doug King, defence coach; Patrick Livingston, special teams’ coach and trainer, and Bill Dodge, quality coach.

The first game for the Panthers will be on September 9 in Watrous. Preeceville will host its first home game on September 16 against Watson, followed by an away game on September 23 against Wynyard. The team will play another home game on September 30 against Watrous and on October 6 against Wynyard. The last game of the season will be an away game on October 14 in Watson.

The playoff round is scheduled for October 21.
