FSIN mourns death of Rick Favel

Chief Bobby Cameron of the Federation of Sovereign Indian Nations says Rick Rick was truly respected by all who knew him.

TREATY 6 TERRITORY, SASKATOON – The Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN) Executive extends their sincerest condolences to the family, friends, community and colleagues of the late Rick Favel.

“We send our heartfelt prayers to all who knew, loved, and worked with and for Rick Favel of the Kawacatoose First Nation,” said FSIN Chief Bobby Cameron.

“Rick was truly respected by all who knew him. He was an important advocate of the Big Lodge, for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, and for Every Child Matters, and he was instrumental in establishing culture within the First Nations University of Canada and All Nations Healing Hospital. He was well-respected by all who knew him in the circles at Regina Treaty/Status Indian Services, File Hills Qu’Appelle Tribal Council, the FSIN, and the list goes on. We will miss Rick as he makes his way to the Spirit World.”

The Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations represents 74 First Nations in Saskatchewan. The Federation is committed to honouring the spirit and intent of the Treaties, as well as the promotion, protection and implementation of the Treaty promises that were made more than a century ago.
