Green thumb sale another success in Sturgis

STURGIS - The Sturgis Horticulture Society hosted its annual Green Thumb sale at the Sturgis Community Hall on May 9.

Avid gardeners had the opportunity to check out what was new in flowers and ask questions about the planting season.

A variety of certified seed potatoes were available for sale as well as a few house plants.

Brian and Margaret Shuya of Greenwater displayed numerous types of plants.

Lunch and refreshments concluded the event.

The Sturgis Horticulture Society was formed in 1951 with honorary president Sandy Nicholson,

President Ilene Kalenchuk, 1st vice-president Mary Giles, 2nd vice-president Rev Edwin Wright, secretary and directors were Mrs. Albin Johnson, O.J. Mattison, Ted Schoenke, J.B. Neufeld, Archie Schauer, Mrs. N. Prekaski, Allen Sweet, Fr. Tom Novak, H.R. Oaks, Walter Mason and Flo Wotherspoon.

The club hosts an annual Green Thumb plant sale and tea.
