At least one Kamsack home has taken on an extreme festive appearance with dancing colourful lights and inflatable Christmas characters that mimic a children’s fantasy playground.

It is the house at 401 Saskatchewan Street West where Larry and Norma Walsh live, and each day during the Christmas season, as soon as the sun sets, the property becomes a blaze of colour and action.

“It’s Norma, my mother, who goes all out for Christmas decorations,” Tammy Brown said last week as she talked about their yard. “She’s been doing this for at least five years, and each year she adds more things.”

Although passers-by see only the outside, Tammy said that her mother also decorates the inside of the house.

“It’s for the kids and Kamsack residents in general,” she said, adding that Norma’s grandson also finds the home very entertaining.

Estimating that the outdoor decorations have cost at least a few thousand dollars, Tammy said that the characters are inflated and the lights turned on during the season whenever the wind is not too strong.

The yard was decorated and set up during the last week of November and it is expected it will remain a colourful sight in the neighbourhood until the new year.
