After draw Number 3 of the Duck Mountain Super League (DMSL) of men’s curling was played November 29 in Kamsack, the Jeremy Hrycenko team, sponsored by Rawhides Restaurant in Stenan, emerged as the clear leader.

Hrycenko, curling with his brothers Ryan and Evan, and Wes Lylyk, made a double take-out to score three points in the first end, stole three more in the second end, and quickly demolished Randy Trofimenkoff’s Kamsack team in four ends.

The victory gives Hrycenko a perfect record of three wins and no losses.

The other Kamsack teams, skipped by Don Bowes and Fred Perepiolkin, began their match by blanking the first and second ends.

Perepiolkin, curling with Glen Becenko, Nolan Nykolaishen and Mark Warriner, and sponsored by Nykolaishen Farms, scored three points in the third end, stole points in the next two ends,  and went on to defeat Bowes in a full length game.

The defeat leaves Bowes in second place in the DMSL with two wins and one loss.

In the third November 29 curling contest, Norquay’s Ken Newell, sponsored by Challoner Farm Inc., was up against Rick Kinaschuk of Benito. Both teams had the lead in this close game that Kinaschuk, sponsored by W.F. Schnieder and Son Ltd., won by making his final shot in the eighth end.

Duck Mountain Super League curling draw Number 4 was to have been played in Norquay on December 6, when  Trofimenkoff was to have taken to the ice against Kinaschuk.  Bob Kolodzeiski of Canora, after sitting out with the bye in draw Number 3, was to face Fred Perepiolkin, while Norquay’s host team of Ken Newell, Zack Newell, Rickie Pawliw and Evan Rostotski, was to throw rocks against Don Bowes, sponsored by Cottenie and Gardner of Kamsack.

Round-robin play in draw Number 5 of the DMSL continues on December 13 in Canora.
