A total of 250 people attended the Sunrise Health Region’s immunization clinic on October 23 at the Keen Age Centre in Canora.

Kelly Strelioff, the Canora public health nurse, provided immunizations along with Shana Moroz, the Kamsack district public health nurse, and Carol Heskin, the public health nurse for the Norquay/Preeceville region.

Volunteers who helped screen patients and ensure the event ran smoothly were Edith Kotzer, Bernice Wilgosh, Doris Kopelchuk, and Dyanne Laplante.

Strelioff said the importance of immunization should not be overlooked.

“It keeps you healthy and those around you as well,” Strelioff said. “Even if you feel you’re healthy, immunization can help protect people around you at a higher risk of influenza complications, including young children, pregnant women, those over the age of 65, and those with underlying health conditions or who have impaired immune systems.”

Additional clinic locations before the end of this year in the Canora area include: Buchanan Club 50 Plus and Invermay Community Hall on November 1, Rama Golden Jets Centre on November 3, Canora Keen Age Centre on November 7 and 20, Invermay School on November 28, Canora Keen Age Centre on December 4, and the Canora Public Health Office on December 18.
