Invermay School celebrates 2017 graduation

Invermay School graduation was held on June 29, with the theme, “This is the beginning of anything you want.” The 2016 Governor General’s Award was won by Brittany Kowalyshyn.

            Invermay School graduation was held on June 29, with the theme, “This is the beginning of anything you want.”

            The 2016 Governor General’s Award was won by Brittany Kowalyshyn.

            The 2017 Invermay School Grade 12 graduates are: Nicholas Chodak, Morgan Jack, Alexa Bilokraly, Jackie Koturbash, Cody Dubas, Sarah Kowalyshyn, Orrie Babichuk and Megan Fey.  

            The Grade 12 academic roll medallion recipients were: Jackie Koturbash, Cody Dubas, Sarah Kowalyshyn, Alexa Bilokraly, Orrie Babichuk, Nicholas Chodak and Ivan Fidek.

            Sarah Kowalyshyn received a number of awards and scholarships including: the Invermay School staff scholarship, yearbook award, cross age tutor certificate, mathematics award, sciences award, Canadian studies history award, English language arts award, academic medallion, Grade 12 academic award, Grade 12 proficiency award, senior spirit of co-operation award, school news reporter recognition, Good Spirit School Division scholarship, school community council scholarship, Crossroads Credit Union scholarship, Invermay Kinette scholarship, Canora ambulance scholarship, Rama Recreation Board scholarship, the University of Saskatchewan entrance scholarship and the Edwards School of Business undergraduate scholarship.

            Nicholas Chodak was presented with: Wadena Cooperative Association scholarship, academic medallion, RM of Invermay scholarship, Ross John Kirk entrance to University of Regina scholarship, Kramer Lt. Foundation scholarship from Campion College and the Centennial Merit Plus scholarship.

            Awards and scholarships received by Alexa Bilokraly included: Leson’s Funeral Home Scholarship, the Cross Age Certificate, Visual Art Award, Students Against Drinking and Driving (SADD) award, senior spirit award, academic medallion and the Village of Invermay Scholarship.

            Cody Dubas received the Clearview Agro Scholarship, the senior male athletic award and the academic medallion.

            Jackie Koturbash received the Rama Co-op Spirit of Co-operation scholarship, academic medallion and the Invermay Agricultural Society scholarship.

            Orrie Babichuk won the Practical and Applied Arts award, the academic medallion and the Skills Canada recognition.

            Natasha Fey won the senior female athletic award and the yearbook award.

            The Red Cross president award and the SRC past-president award went to Shayna Dubas. 

            The valedictory address was given by Alexa Bilokraly and Megan Fey. Fey also received the yearbook award.

            The guest speaker was Quinn Rioch, who graduated from Invermay School in 2010 and knows several of the graduates well. He told them not to shy away from failure, but rather to learn and grow from it, and perhaps even to laugh at it.
