Santa Claus is comin’ to town next week with a couple of his reindeer.

Kamsack’s annual Moonlight Madness pre-Christmas shopping promotion is being held November 25 and the highlight of the event is the Santa Claus parade.

The day’s special events will begin at about 6 p.m., according to Kev Sumner, Kamsack’s recreation director, who is organizing the activities. Businesses in the downtown core have been invited to remain open that evening.

“We’re encouraging Kamsack businesses and organizations to consider entering a float in the parade,” Sumner said. Once again, Lloyd Smith of Pelly will be offering horse-drawn wagon rides around the community.

Families are being invited to the seniors’ centre beginning at 6 p.m. when staff of the Kamsack Library will begin a Christmas story time and members of the Kamsack Community Choir will be inviting everyone to sing carols along with them.

Library representatives will be selling 50/50 lottery tickets to raise funds for the library; members of the Kamsack Comprehensive Institute student council will be offering to paint the faces of children, and cookies and hot chocolate will be served.

At 7 p.m. the parade will begin from the Crowstand Centre parking lot, Sumner said, adding that Gerald Ignatiuk of Preeceville has once again agreed to help tend the reindeer for Santa and will be accompanying them in the parade.

The parade, which as of last week had nearly a dozen entries, will go down Third Street, and then turn to go south on main street and then around the corner to First Street to the seniors’ centre where Santa will stop for cookies and hot chocolate and be available for photographs with his fans.
