Residents of Eaglestone Lodge now have access to a full set of art supplies thanks to the Kamsack Community Arts Council.

On Friday, Nikki Lachambre and Marilyn Lachambre, who are co-chairs of the Arts Council, presented a collection of supplies to the lodge paid by proceeds generated by arts council events including the Culture Days and Stars for Saskatchewan concerts.

Included are acrylic and water paints, brushes, sculpting clay, canvasses, sketch pads, coloured and black Sharpies for doodling and brown gift bags for decorating.

The Arts Council is all about art and wanting to make art accessible to all, Marilyn said as she showed the items to Holly Musqua, the Lodge’s activity worker.

Although the supplies will be kept in the activity room, it is the Arts Council’s wish that residents can access the supplies whenever they wish, not only during their regular activity sessions, Marilyn said, adding that the new sun room would be an ideal place to create art and it would be wonderful if there could one day be a show and sale of residents’ art.

Members of the arts council have agreed to host a variety of workshops for the residents, Nikki said, adding that as funding allows, the supplies will be replenished.

Marilyn said that within a week she plans to host a demonstration on how to use the supplies.

Persons wishing to offer some instruction in the use of art supplies, and those who may wish to make a donation to the project are encouraged to contact Nikki or Marilyn.
