The Kamsack Players adult theatre group, which is still basking in the success of its annual pre-Christmas dinner theatre, is to begin preparing for a new production that will be staged at the Kamsack Playhouse either at the end of April or the beginning of May.

The dinner theatre, when Death and Taxes, a two-act comedy-mystery was staged in the OCC Hall at the end of November, was a success, said Jack Koreluik, the director of the play. More than 200 people saw the play and, with it, the theatre group made money.

During a meeting of the Players on January 16, the group discussed a number of suggestions for improvements and among them was one to stage another play as was done in November, as opposed to a series of skits which had been staged in previous years, Koreluik said. It was also suggested that this year’s dinner theatre be staged in early December rather than in late November.

At the meeting, the Players troupe, which is a member of Theatre Saskatchewan, agreed to proceed with a spring production and Nancy Brunt, a long-time member of the Players, who has previously performed and directed, was selected as the director of the next production.

“We have an idea of a script but it has a cast of six women, and we’re not sure if we will be able to cast that play,” Brunt said, adding that club members are looking at other scripts and expect to have a play selected within a week or two.

“We’re looking for performers,” Brunt said, encouraging people who might enjoy participating in their next production to contact her.
