Two instances of good old fashioned entrepreneurship are showing that any kind of fundraising effort can be successful no matter what age you are.
That's what a handful of Outlook youths demonstrated on Saturday, May 6 when they opened up an iced tea and refreshment stand to coincide with the town-wide garage sale event going on that day, raising money and taking donations for the new swimming pool facility.
Delilah and Michael Drury, together with Lily and Freya Farden worked hard all day and kept the cold stuff coming to thirsty patrons who were looking to beat the springtime heat, as well as enjoy refreshments such as cookies. By the end of their venture, the four youngsters had raised an impressive total of $208.50.
Elsewhere in town that same day, another pair of kids decided to exercise their business skills as Morgan Chabot and Sheann McLeod set up shop with a lemonade stand, offering another choice for those looking to quench their thirst while also raising money for Outlook's new pool project. They enjoyed a steady stream of customers all day, including a drive-thru sale and even a visit from local EMS workers driving their ambulance, as well as some further help in making sales by Nathan Chabot and Jocelyn McLeod. By the time the day was over, the group of kids had raised another impressive total of approximately $300.
On Tuesday afternoon, May 9, Cara Drury accompanied Delilah, Michael, Lily and Freya as they met up with Jackie Douville and Rachel Sillers from the Town of Outlook and submitted their funds to the pool project, where they were commended for their fundraising efforts and posed for a photo outside the town offices building.
Acts such as this go to show that the support for Outlook's new pool isn't just there from businesses, corporations and adults, but with our youngest generations, who'll hopefully be enjoying the future facility for years to come.
