On Thursday, August 15th at approximately 1:00 p.m. members from the La Ronge RCMP Detachment responded to a complaint of a head-on, two vehicle motor vehicle collision on highway #2 approximately 30km South of La Ronge, Saskatchewan. La Ronge EMS and La Ronge Fire and Rescue also attended.
A car was travelling North along highway #2 when it collided with a semi truck heading the opposite direction. There was one occupant in the car who was pronounced deceased at the scene. The adult male driver and lone occupant of the semi was not injured. The semi truck was empty at the time.
A traffic collision analyst attended the scene and conducted an investigation. The Highway was closed for several hours during the investigation.
The RCMP and Coroners office are still investigating. The identity of the driver will be confirmed by the coroners office following an autopsy. We do not anticipate releasing the name of the driver.
