Each year the Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association presents Meritorious Awards at its annual convention.
“Traditionally Council has approved up to four employees to attend the SUMA Banquet,” Christopher Wentzell, Director of Human Resources with the City of Yorkton told the regular meeting of Council Monday.
For 2017, only one City of Yorkton confirmed their wish to attend the meeting.
“We have other employees who have completed the necessary years of service to attend but have respectfully declined the offer,” said Wentzell.
Kathy Ritchie is the employee Council unanimously supported for the 2017 award.
“In February 2017, Kathy Ritchie will have thirty years of accumulated service in municipal government and has dedicated eight, or more years with the City of Yorkton. We feel that it is appropriate to recognize this employee,” said Wentzell.
There are close to forty employees with twenty or more years of service and many of these employees have previously attended the SUMA Banquet.
