Midgets crowned B side banner champions

The Preeceville Midget Pats hockey team faced a third game against Esterhazy that decided the B side champions of the Major Hockey league. The final and deciding game was hosted in Preeceville in front of a packed arena on March 20.

            The Preeceville Midget Pats hockey team faced a third game against Esterhazy that decided the B side champions of the Major Hockey league. The final and deciding game was hosted in Preeceville in front of a packed arena on March 20.

            The game kicked off with a roar and both teams hitting the ice hard. At the end of the first period both teams were tied at 2-2. The second period had the Pats taking the lead with a 3-2 edge. The third period told the tale of a very stressful hard hitting game as both teams mounted penalties. The end of the third period had a tie game that went into overtime.

            The final score was 5-4 for the Pats. The Pats made short work when Tyler Shankowsky assisted by Bo Babiuk and Caleb Godfrey found the net to dash Esterhazy’s dream. Players, fans and coaches were all under a great deal of stress with numerous verbal assaults thrown and the game ended with a on-ice fight between players.

            The first game was held in Preeceville on March 4 ending with a 6-2 win for the Pats. In the second game hosted in Esterhazy on March 10, it was Esterhazy that claimed the 6-1 win.
