SASKATOON — When Arne Nicholat discovered his LOTTO 6/49 ticket won $100,000 on the Dec. 25 EXTRA draw, he knew exactly how to tell his wife.

“I went home, handed my wallet to my wife and said, ‘Feel that?’” he recalled while claiming his prize. “She looked at me a little confused, so I said, ‘That’s what $100,000 feels like!’”

Nicholat said his wife wasn’t convinced, so the two of them checked the numbers together.

“I may have joked about winning with her before, so she wanted to confirm it,” he laughed. “After we checked the numbers, we felt calm, a calm happiness.”

The winner said he has a couple of ideas for his windfall.

“We need to do a few things around the house,” he said. “We were going to upgrade the bathroom and get a new stove either way, but now it’s a little easier to do.”

“We’re also going to put some money into savings,” he continued. “It would be nice to retire soon and this will definitely make a difference.”

Nicholat purchased his winning ticket at College Park Confectionary, located at 4-270 Acadia Dr. in Saskatoon. He won his EXTRA prize by matching the last six digits of the EXTRA number – 2418133.
