The Preeceville and District Mushers Rendezvous committee has been busy with organizational meetings for the annual Rendezvous being held on February 3, 4 and 5.

During the November 8 meeting, it was reported that the multi-use landing pad will be put off due to inclement weather. The construction will continue in the spring.

"Various project applications and ideas for the proceeds from the 2017 Rendezvous were reviewed," said Brittany Halkyard, secretary. "It was determined that the Preeceville, Sturgis and Endeavour halls will equally split the proceeds of the Rendezvous. The three groups will be working together to put on the Saturday supper."

The committee also discussed the possibility of businesses in the town participating in a window decoration contest.

"The windows will help advertise the event and show community support,” said Halkyard. Winners will get a plaque to showcase in their windows.

The annual lighting of the memory tree will be held December 8 and will coincide with the Festival of Trees. Individuals can purchase a Christmas bulb in memory of a loved one who has passed away. The bulb will be put on the tree and lit up during the annual ceremony that will be followed by the reading of names and the serving of hot chocolate.

Other topics discussed featured horse rides, sled dog rides, snow plane rides and a hockey tournament to be hosted during the Rendezvous.
