Mushers’ Rendezvous promises a busy weekend

The committee members involved in the scheduling, organizing and preparation for the annual Preeceville and District Mushers’ Rendezvous have had a busy few months leading up to the event.

The committee members involved in the scheduling, organizing and preparation for the annual Preeceville and District Mushers’ Rendezvous have had a busy few months leading up to the event.

            Buttons and advertisements have been printed to get the word out about the upcoming weekend. The suppers and supplies have all been ordered and both Preeceville and Sturgis schools are participating in a paper dog fundraiser.

            The talent show has a reported 14 entries. The show will take place at the Preeceville Legion Hall on Friday evening. Rae Rosenkerr will be in attendance to offer sleigh rider on both days, weather permitting.

            The Sturgis Kinsmen will be the sponsor of the six-dog sled race. Crossroads Credit Union is sponsoring the 10-dog sled race. Preeceville Salvage is sponsoring the five-dog junior race.

            Throughout the weekend, there will be children’s winter activities, a recreational hockey tournament, two suppers, a talent night and a dance with DJ Kanada Sound Addiction Services.

            A pancake breakfast sponsored by the Preeceville Lioness Club will kick off events Sunday at the Legion Hall.

            The profits from the event will be allotted towards a project to construct the “Mushers’ multi-purpose pad” for the STARS helicopter ambulance at the site of the Preeceville and District Health Centre.
