A hairdresser is opening a new wedding rental business in Canora to give brides and their families help in decorating for a special day.

Carole Reay has just opened Ultimate Elegance Wedding and Event Rentals, and is running the business out of her home on 174 Shevhenko Crescent. After hairdressing for 20 years, she began her business when she was involved with the marriage of her daughter in April.

“There’s really a need for a business like this in this town,” she said. “For my daughter’s wedding, we had to get everything from Regina, rent a U-haul, and keep the U-haul until Tuesday because the stores weren’t open after the wedding.”

She wanted to start the business partially to make it easier on brides. Since she runs her business out of home, she’s available to help set up and take things down, and items can be returned any day of the week.

Reay also considers the business a necessity for herself. She calls herself a “crafty girl,” but did not have an outlet for her creative side since she was busy as a stay-at-home mother. Now that her daughters have “left the nest,” she is glad to have the opportunity to start a business.

It’s taken a lot of work and time, she admits, but she is now officially open.

“I don’t just want to do this for fun,” Reay said. “I find the wedding rental business fascinating, and needed to get into it to express my ideas.”

Ultimate Elegance Wedding and Event Rentals provides wedding décor, including table coverings and accessories. Reay sews and crafts decorations herself, and so far has created two different lines of decorations. One is an elegant black-and-white design accented with crystals. “We really like it sparkly,” she admitted.

The other is a favourite for outdoor weddings, and is a rustic, Western style she calls “Chevy Chic.”

The two styles can be matched with various colours to create a personalized wedding theme. “Brides tend to have specific ideas about what they want,” she said.

“I want to work with them to make the day-as cliché as it is-a day to remember.”

Reay is originally from the Regina area, and has lived in Canora for over 20 years. She is now making preparations for bookings for 2017 weddings.
