One deceased, one unaccounted for after canoe capsizes

The public is asked to avoid the reservoir and to respect all direction given by first responders in the area.

RCMP say a child is deceased and an adult is missing after their canoe capsized on Bradwell Reservoir.

BRADWELL RESERVOIR — Update: The body of the missing adult was recovered July 12.

The Bradwell Reservoir is being searched after two people went into the water when their canoe capsized. A five year old is deceased and an adult is missing.

On July 7 at approximately 6:35 p.m., Saskatoon RCMP received a report of a capsized canoe in the Bradwell Reservoir, which is approximately one kilometre southeast of Bradwell.

Investigation determined an adult male and a five-year-old child were canoeing, when the canoe capsized. The child was retrieved from the water and transported to hospital by STARS, where he was declared deceased. His family has been notified.

The adult male has not been located. A search of the reservoir is ongoing, with assistance from Allan Fire Department, Allan Search and Rescue and Saskatoon Police Service Air Services.

The public is asked to avoid the reservoir and to respect all direction given by first responders in the area.
