A series of buildings in Canora have been vandalized and tagged with graffiti, and the RCMP is now investigating the possible connection between the incidents.

The building that holds 110 First Avenue East, the side of 207 Main Street, the SaskTel building on 441 Main Street, and a bench at the Sylvia Fedoruk Centre have all been spray painted with a graffiti symbol. The symbol is either in red or green paint, and depicts a frowning face with two ‘X’ letters as its eyes, and a crown with three points and three dots at each point on its head.

The Canora RCMP is requesting the public’s help in identifying the person or persons responsible for the mischief.

According to the Halifax Prosecutor website, frowning faces, crowns, and a series of three dots are all common traits found in graffiti tags. The Canora RCMP stated that any graffiti that does or does not fit this description can be reported to the detachment, and any suspicious activity should also be reported to prevent any further vandalism.

Anyone who destroys or defaces property could be found responsible for a Class 1 misdemeanor if the damage is under $1,000 or a Class 6 felony if the damage is over $1,000. If anyone has any information regarding the graffiti, or would like to report another incident of graffiti, he or she is encouraged to contact the Canora RCMP Detachment or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
