The Preeceville Panthers football team recorded its first win of the season on September 16, defeating Watson 45-22.

"We saw a much improved Watson team from years before," said Jeremy Mattison, offence coach. "In the first half, we faced a real battle with a 14-14 tie.

“We didn't play as well as we should have,” Mattison said. “Our defence managed to keep us in the game.

“At halftime we came out strong after some adjustments and took over the game," he said.

Scoring for the Panthers were Spencer King, who scored a rushing touchdown; Sean Paligan and Dawson Paul, who each scored two touchdowns, and Dreyton Paul, who scored once.

"We played much better in the second half but still have lots of work to do. We need to pay attention to plays and straighten out the confusion on field. It is a learning process for everyone.

“It will be another tough test on Friday when we travel to Wynyard. Wynyard is currently at two wins and no losses.

The Watson win for the team has helped improved the confidence level of the players and coaching staff," said Mattison.
