The Preeceville School senior football team concluded its season after playing its final game in Watrous on October 14, but fell short with a loss of 51-31.
Coaching staff included Jeremy Mattison, Bill Dodge, Doug King and Patrick Livingstone.
Players were: Sean Paligan, Keegan Bilanchuk, Kelton Novak, James Dodge, Matthew Fenske, Dreyton Paul, Bo Babiuk, Jake Huska, Jessy Johnson, Spencer King, Calum Livingstone, Hayden Strand, Lee Schutte, Kole Statchuk, Jalen Bayer, Connor Novak and Hunter Chornomitz.
“We started the game off strong with a touchdown pass from Spencer King to Bo Babiuk for a 10 yard pass,” said Jeremy Mattison, discussing the Watrous game. “The game was very back and forth with both teams taking turns scoring touchdowns.
“Watrous seemed to take over but in the second half we came back strong,” Mattison said. “It was a matter of running out of time. The team played hard, made constant improvements and finished the season off in great style.
“As a team we played hard with players focused on becoming better players.
“We will be losing nine senior players next season and the focus will be on the junior players moving up with a good number of returning players,” he said. “The organization wishes to express its gratitude towards the parents, families and community for their support throughout the season.
“Football is a 12-month sport with two months of actual playing,” he said. “In the end if we as an organization can impact a player’s life by making positive changes, then we have succeeded.
“We focus on hard work that gives players the opportunity to become good solid community members.”
