The Preeceville Panthers football team suffered their first loss when they traveled to Watrous to take on Watrous on September 9. The Panthers came up short with a 38-13 loss for the night.
"It was our first game and a tough loss for the team," said Jeremy Mattison, defence coach. "The team started out strong with a quick touchdown passed to Dreyton Paul from quarterback Spencer King.
“Our second touchdown came in the second half when King threw a pass to Bo Babiuk," said Mattison.
"The team members played hard but it is evident that we have a lot of work to do yet,” he said. “There was some miscommunication and things seemed to not line up correctly.
“We need to work on executing plays, passing and tackles,” he said. “We have a strong program but are playing in a tough conference. The players worked hard and with their dedication and passion for the game, we are sure to make the positive changes that will have a winning end result.”
The next game for the Panthers will be a home game on September 16, when Watson comes to Preeceville.
The next games scheduled are: September 23 in Wynyard; September 30, a home game against Watrous; October 6, a home game against Wynyard, and October 14 will see the Panthers traveling to Watson.
The playoff round begins October 21.
