In the Village of Rama, both the mayor and two current town councillors are leaning towards seeking re-election. Darrel Dutchak is Rama’s current mayor, and leads council with Jeff Hunter and Darryl McLeod.
Currently, Jeff Hunter and Darryl McLeod can not say for sure whether they will definitely seek re-election, but they are working under the assumption that they will, as their nominations must be submitted by September 21.
Dutchak is running for re-election after 25 years as the mayor of the Village of Rama, and has many reasons why he wishes to continue on as mayor.
“In 2019, we plan to celebrate the 100-year anniversary of Rama. I would definitely like to be a part of that important event,” he said.
Dutchak also wishes to remain as mayor due to some important projects Rama will be facing in the future.
“There is going to be a reassessment of the village soon, and I think I’m currently the only one with experience in that area,” he said. “It’s important to have someone who knows the natural differences between houses and buildings when you’re going through a reassessment. I want to continue to be a part of my community.”
