The Saskatoon Police Service will continue with the investigation of a residential fire in the 200 block of Avenue N South.

SASKATOON — The Saskatoon Police Service is continuing the investigation of a Thursday morning residential fire on the 200 block of Avenue N South. The fire has been deemed suspicious.

The information received pre-arrival was of an unknown fire behind a house.

The Saskatoon Fire Department responded to the call, which was received at 6:38 a.m. Three engines, a ladder and rescue truck, the Battalion Chief, and a fire investigator were dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival of the first fire crews, they saw that the garage and a nearby power pole were fully involved in the fire. Tactical duties were assigned.

The first arriving fire crews actively advanced hose lines to begin extinguishing the fire while Saskatoon Light & Power was also notified.

The fire was brought under control at 6:49 a.m. and the fire investigator deemed the fire suspicious with the SPS taking over the investigation. The damage is estimated at $10,000.
