The Saskatchewan Rush have acquired a third-round pick in the 2020 National Lacrosse League Entry Draft from the Philadelphia Wings in exchange for defenceman Nick Finlay.
“It’s never easy trading quality young players and Nick is that,” said Keenan, who announced the trade today.
“This provides Nick with a great opportunity in Philly and clears space for our promising draft picks from this year’s draft and the 2018 draft. Nick’s a fine young man and we wish him all the best in Philadelphia.”
The deal gives the Rush two picks in the third round of the 2020 draft after originally trading their own pick as part of the package to land Dan Dawson from the Rochester Knighthawks midway through the 2018 season. A month later, the Rush got a third-round pick back when they traded Dan Taylor to the Toronto Rock.
Finlay was the Rush’s second-round pick (16th overall) in the 2017 Entry Draft out of Peterborough (Ontario Jr. A)/Trent University (CUFLA). The Orleans, Ontario, product played nine games in the rookie season, netting two goals and one assist. He appeared in only six games this past season and picked up just one goal.
