SASKATOON -- The city's crews and contractors have been actively clearing road debris to reduce dust in the air since the snow melted. From Monday, May 15, drivers should expect delays on expressways, including Circle Drive.

The cleaning will occur from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. between Monday to Thursday, May 15 to 18. The project is expected to be completed by May 26, Friday, subject to weather conditions and any unforeseen circumstances.

Drivers are advised to maintain a distance of at least 15 metres (about 2.5 car lengths) and use extreme caution while passing, slowing down to 60 km/h.

Saskatoon Police Service will escort the street sweeping vehicles to enforce speeding and other work zone infractions. On and off ramps will be temporarily closed while sweeping is carried out.

Saskatoon police and pilot vehicles will use flashing lights and message boards to caution drivers to slow down as they approach the moving work zone.

Drivers must reduce speed and respect all work zones, including mobile work zones, detours, flashing lights, barriers, and workers outside of equipment.

The fine for driving over the posted speed limit in a construction zone is double. Driving 20 km/h over the speed limit will cost $440 while driving 40 km over will cost $1,008.
