SASKATOON — The eagerly anticipated household hazardous waste drop-off days, previously announced, will face a delay this year due to the pending confirmation of a vendor.
Once a contract has been awarded to administer the program, the HHW collection events will commence. The City has a longstanding tradition of offering this service and understands the anticipation among residents for its return. An update regarding HHW programming is expected to be provided in late June.
In the meantime, alternative options are available for the disposal of common HHW materials, including the following:
- Household paint, batteries, and electronics can be conveniently dropped off at any SARCAN depot location at no cost.
- Used oil, antifreeze, and containers can be taken to the SARRC EcoCentre at the Saskatoon landfill without incurring any tipping fees, provided the materials are identified upon entry.
- For additional drop-off events happening around Saskatoon, please visit this website.
A comprehensive list of acceptable and unacceptable items can be found at saskatoon.ca/hazardouswaste.
