Update: Saskatoon - Ongoing police operation results in arrest

SASKATOON - A 24-year-old man is in custody after police responded to a residence on 29th Street West earlier this morning.

Shortly before 5:30 a.m., Jan. 17, police responded to a report of a man armed with a firearm at a residence in the 300 block of 29th Street West. Police received further information that the armed male had pointed the firearm at other occupants inside the residence. The SPS Tactical Support Unit, Canine and Crisis Negotiator Team, assisted Patrol in responding to the incident.

The man eventually exited the residence and was taken into custody at approximately 8 a.m.

Several others from inside the residence were arrested on outstanding warrants. 

Traffic restrictions in the area have since been lifted, however the SPS Guns and Gangs Unit is continuing to investigate.
