SASKATOON -- The Saskatoon Police Service have arrested a man from Alberta who is now facing a number of charges after evading the officers.

Last Monday, at around 11 p.m., patrol officers noticed a Nissan Pathfinder that was displaying the wrong license plate and attempted to evade the police.

Police officers deemed the vehicle as suspicions and attempted a traffic stop. The driver, however, refused to stop and fled.

Air Support Unit members managed to spot the vehicle from the air and a tire deflation device was successfully used.

The driver then abandoned the vehicle in the 800 block of Avenue S North. Patrol members, with the assistance of the ASU, and the canine unit were able to locate the man hiding in a backyard nearby.

The 38-year-old male was taken into custody and received treatment for minor injuries consistent with a dog bite.

Police later found out that the man was wanted on three Canada-wide Criminal Code warrants and is now facing 10 charges including evading police, dangerous driving, driving while prohibited and obstruction.
